Privacy policy
Effective September 22, 2026. This notice describes the current Same Object website at www.sameobject.com, an independently operated furniture discovery and comparison service.
Information we handle
- Account identity: when you sign in through ChatGPT, the site receives your account identifier, email address and, when provided, name. We use the identifier to associate your saved furniture and submitted requests with you. We do not receive your ChatGPT password or chat history through this sign-in.
- Saved furniture: product identifiers and the dates you saved them.
- Submitted links: product URLs you submit, your account identifier, submission time, matching status and results. Avoid putting personal information or private access tokens in product URLs.
- Privacy requests: request type, any details you provide, account identifier, email, timestamp and request status.
- Technical information: hosting and authentication providers may process IP addresses, browser information, request logs and authentication cookies to deliver and protect the service. Same Object does not currently implement advertising pixels or a separate visitor analytics service.
How we use information
We use information to sign you in, save and retrieve your collection, investigate product links, respond to privacy requests, prevent abuse and troubleshoot the service. Catalog records also contain retailer prices and source-check observations; those observations describe products, not personal purchase history. Search and filter choices currently run in your browser and are not stored in the application database.
Hosting, service providers and retailers
The site uses OpenAI Sites and its hosting infrastructure, including Cloudflare-backed services, to provide authentication, hosting and database storage. Authorized site operators can review submitted links and privacy requests. Scheduled AI-assisted catalog and maintenance work uses the hosting and source tools needed to operate the site; private customer data is not needed for furniture discovery and should not be included in those research tasks.
Same Object does not currently sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or send your account identity to furniture retailers for comparison checks. When you follow a retailer link, that retailer receives your visit and applies its own privacy policy. Purchases take place with retailers; Same Object does not collect your payment card, shipping address or checkout order details.
Cookies and browser storage
Authentication and hosting may use essential cookies. The site uses temporary session storage to remember a piece you tried to save before signing in; the entry is cleared after a successful save or when the browser session ends. Blocking essential cookies or browser storage can affect sign-in and saves. The application has no optional advertising cookies to enable.
Retention and security
Saved pieces remain until you remove them or an applicable deletion request is fulfilled. Submitted links, operational records and privacy requests are retained for service operation and request handling; no automatic deletion period is configured yet. Hosting logs and backups follow provider retention practices and may persist separately. We use HTTPS and account-based access controls, but no online service can promise absolute security.
Your choices
You can browse without signing in, remove saved pieces with their heart buttons, and sign out from your account page. Use the form below to request access, correction or deletion of site-held information, or ask a privacy question. Requests are stored for the site owner to review; they do not trigger an immediate deletion or an automatic email response. We may need to verify identity and consider applicable retention obligations. Deleting Same Object data does not delete your ChatGPT account; manage that separately with OpenAI.
Children and changes
This service is intended for adult furniture shoppers and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, submit a privacy question below so the operator can investigate. We may update this notice as the service changes and will revise the effective date.
